Clover School District (CSD) honored its 2024 retirees last night during a dinner at River Hills Country Club. Follow us throughout the day to meet several of them and learn more about their fond CSD memories and hopes for their retirement.
Fourth graders at Bethel Elementary presented their Zoo Fundraising Projects with district instructional leaders, parents and students this morning.
Students were challenged to select five animals. They researched the animals and then created plans for a zoo that could host the type of habitat needed by each animal. They further learned about the animals' diet and veterinary care. They created budgets to show the cost of caring for the animal each day and for a year.
The purpose of the presentations was to seek investors in their zoos. Guests received pretend checks for between $100,000 and $1,000,000. Students were to persuade their audience members to invest in their zoo.

With that enthusiasm, members of the Oakridge Middle School Unified Softball Team took the field this morning.
Unified sports are teams of students with and without intellectual disabilities. Unified sports provide students with opportunities for physical activity, social interaction and fun. There were both big hits and big smiles on the field this morning.
Unified softball at the middle schools was funded last year by a Teacher Grant from the Clover LEAF Foundation.. The grant provided protective gear and equipment to adapt the game to students of all ability levels.
The Clover Middle School Unified Softball Team will take the field next week.
Fun and Games!
One of the annual signs that the end of the school year is right around the corner is Field Day. This day is mainly celebrated in elementary schools, where students, their teachers, and often their families get to enjoy a day of outdoor fun!
Physical Education teachers across the district do an excellent job coming up with fresh and new ideas to excite their students each year with what is often one of the most memorable days of the year.
This Friday, Kinard Elementary hosted its field day, which featured various water activities, games, and a whole lot of fun. Special thanks to the Clover Fire Department and the Clover Police Department for their help at Kinard’s Field Day.
We thank the great work of all the Physical Education teachers throughout the district, not only for Field Day but also for helping our students stay active and learn games to share with others.
The CSD School Social Work Department presented a check to Emma Sutton of York Electric’s Burrell Foundation. The Social Work Department raised funds through the sale of pins for April’s Child Abuse Prevention Month initiative. District staff purchased pins and raised $1,647.19. The Burrell Foundation has been a tremendous community partner in helping the social work department respond to family needs.

With those words, Clover High School (CHS) Principal Donna Farris welcomed students, staff and parents to the Employment Education Awards Brunch.
Today’s celebration recognized special education students who participated in the Occupational Credential Program or Functional Life Skills Program. The cornerstone of both programs is the acquisition of employment skills obtained through workplace experiences.
Nineteen local business partners were honored by Clover Mayor Bo Legg for providing job opportunities for students enrolled in these programs. The group also paid tribute to CHS Assistant Principal Vicki Wolford who is retiring this year after 30 years of service. Mayor Legg presented Wolford with a proclamation from the Town Council.

Today's brunch was provided by the school district's food service, Chartwell's.
The Applied Technology Center's FFA Chapter celebrated a year of success with a banquet held Friday, May 10, in the Clover High School cafeteria.
More than 130 guests were in attendance to recognize students for their accomplishments and local farmers and business leaders who support the FFA program.
State FFA Vice President Caroline Adams was the guest speaker. She emphasized the "living to serve" part of the FFA motto.
Awards were presented in 19 different categories and included everything from individual honors to chapter honors and even scholarships for graduating seniors.
Shalyn Wehbie and Cheyenne Hunter serve as the FFA advisors.

Kendall Cagle , a Special Education Teacher at Crowders Creek Elementary, was the winner of today's Clover LEAF Staff Appreciation prize. Clover LEAF President Kyle Eller was joined by Director Amy Rose and Crowders Creek Principal Dr. Maurice Thomas for the presentation.
Clover LEAF will wrap up their Staff Appreciation activities tomorrow with one more BIG CHECK!
The Clover LEAF staff appreciation prize patrol is catching up today after having to postpone their delivery yesterday when Clover High School lost power. This morning, they awarded a $200 check to CHS Special Education Instructional Specialist Susan M. Johnson. New Clover LEAF Director Amy Rose was joined by CHS Principal Donna Farris for the presentation. The prize patrol will be on the road again this afternoon to surprise our prize winner for today.
Due to the persistent power outage that is impacting the Clover School District Auditorium, the Oakridge Middle School band concert scheduled for tonight has been moved to the Oakridge Middle School Gym. Sixth grade will perform at 6 p.m., while Seventh and Eighth grade will perform at 7:30 p.m.

A BIG thank you for a BIG check! Clover School District is so grateful that the Clover LEAF Foundation is our Teacher Appreciation Week partner. Today, the Clover LEAF Prize Patrol was at Clover High School to deliver a $200 check to Mathematics Teacher Anna Cather. The Prize Patrol was made up of Clover LEAF President Kyle Eller, Past President Jackie Hicks and Director Katie Goforth. More surprises are on the way!
