Clover High School is proud to announce its yearbook has been selected for inclusion in Varsity Yearbook’s prestigious Portfolio — a showcase celebrating the most exceptional yearbooks in the country printed by Varsity Yearbook.
This honor places Clover High School among just 617 schools featured in this year’s volume, out of which more than 2,100 examples were thoughtfully curated. An exclusive group of just 59 yearbooks were selected for the highly coveted Anthology section — representing the very best in scholastic journalism, design and storytelling.
“ The staff of The Eagle worked diligently to create a book that would appeal to all the different students and parents in the community ,” Leann Mellon of Clover High School said.
Portfolio highlights yearbooks that demonstrate consistent excellence in both verbal and visual elements, exemplary coverage and top-notch photography. Representing the top books printed by Varsity Yearbook, this collection reflects the passion, skill and collaboration behind each yearbook staff.
“We’re proud to present Portfolio, a showcase of the most exceptional work in journalism and design,” Executive Vice President of Varsity Yearbook Andrew Checketts said. “This collection represents the best of the best, and we are honored to showcase the talent and creativity of these students from across the country.”
Clover High School Senior Shea Catts has been named the York County recipient of the Coach Jake Miller Memorial Alumni Scholarship from Girls on the Run Tri-County SC.
Catts started her running career with Girls on the Run at Crowders Creek Elementary when she was in fourth grade. She volunteered for numerous races and camps over the years. This year, she returned to Crowders Creek as a Coach.
Girls on the Run is a physical activity-based, positive youth development program that inspires third through eighth grade girls to recognize their limitless potential and boldly pursue their dreams.
Oakridge Middle School students recently created their own restaurant menus as part of a cross-curricular project led by teacher Melissa White and speech-language pathologist Carly Zukowski.
The students conducted research and explored text features using real menus and store ads—learning to organize headings, prices, categories, and visuals. Along the way, they built essential speech, language, writing, math, and money skills, all through a real-world lens.
After presenting their menus, students were celebrated with fun, personalized awards that highlighted their creativity and effort. The project was a meaningful, hands-on way to build communication and life skills.
Fourth graders in Bethel Elementary's Gifted and Talented program displayed projects today in hopes of finding "investors."
Students create a zoo in this annual, integrated assignment. The students create a map of the site, including homes for all the animals they would like to include in their exhibits. They also create spaces for concessions, restrooms and performances.
A business plan then emerges and students calculate the annual cost of operating their zoo. They may estimate ticket and concession revenues but know that investors will be needed to cover most of their costs.
Students from other grades and adults attend the "pitch event" with checks in hand. When they are especially impressed by a thoughtful project, they may invest in it. Students celebrate receiving those checks and moving closer to the financial goal of their project.
On Friday, May 23, 5th graders at Larne celebrated the end of the year with a showcase of accomplishments. Many of the 5th graders chose to highlight their academic achievements from this school year. Some students also chose to showcase their achievements in other areas such as dance, baseball, art, equestrian events and many others. Hundreds of parents perused the halls enjoying the accomplishments of the 5th graders.
All schools and offices are closed today in observance of Memorial Day.
