READING INCENTIVES

Genre Reading Challenge
Students may read a fiction or nonfiction Scary Story or Mystery. Nonfiction may include short story collections, UFOs, monsters, etc.

Author Birthday Challenge
Authors with October birthdays:

·   October 19   Phillip Pullman
·   October 23  Laurie Anderson

INSTRUCTION

October Lessons
Students are learning how to locate “just right” books on the shelves. Strategies students may use include:

SPECIAL EVENTS

Fall Book Fair
The Book Fair will take place November 7-21, in the library. Students will attend the fair with their ELA class. More details will be given in November.

LIBRARY CLUBS

Battle of the Books
Each grade meets during recess on Thursdays to practice.

Lunch Bunch
8th grade meets on Fridays.
6th & 7th grade meet on Mondays.

M&Ms
(Media Managers)
Students help during their ELA class visit to the library media center.
