CHS Counseling Center

Welcome back, Blue Eagles!!

Seniors, stay tuned for more information about your final IGP conferences. You will have the chance to sign up to meet with your counselor in September to discuss your postsecondary plans. We'll provide lots of information to help you prepare for what's to come this year and beyond!

Counselor Contact Information (assigned by student grade level and last name)

Please call (803) 810-8211 to contact Mrs. Hester or a counselor on the Main Campus (grades 10-12).

Please call (803) 621-8500 to contact a counselor on the Ninth Grade Campus.

Schedule changes will only be honored for specific reasons within the first five days of first and second semester. After the fifth day, students will be dropped from classes with penalty (which results in a grade of an F in the dropped class). "I do not want to take this class," "I chose this class as an alternate," "I would like to change teachers/I don't like this teacher," "I would like to be in a class(es) with my friends," and "I would like to change lunches" are examples of invalid schedule change requests. If you have a particular issue with your schedule, please reach out directly to your counselor.

Clover High School

Exchange Student Guidelines

Clover High School values the educational benefits of hosting exchange students on campus. Exchange programs not only provide opportunities for students from other countries to experience the unique structure of an American high school but also create a platform for our students to engage with diverse worldviews and cultures.

If you are interested in hosting an exchange student in your home, you are not just opening your doors but also your hearts to a unique cultural exchange.

Please read the following CHS guidelines to learn more.

Expectations of the Exchange Agency

  • The exchange agency must be listed on the Council on Standards for

International Education Travel (CSIET). www.csiet.org. CSD will verify the

    status with CSIET.

  • The exchange agency must have a local representative (living in or near the

community) to coordinate, supervise, and monitor the placement and

    progress of foreign exchange students.

  • The exchange agency must be aware of the school calendar and assure that

the student will be present on the first day of school and remain until the last

day of the school year to receive credit. The school year calendar is linked

    here: https://www.clover.k12.sc.us/o/district/page/district-calendar

  • The application window is from April 10th to May 15th each year.

  • The exchange agency must send a copy of the completed application to the Exchange Student Coordinator and Clover High School Registrar.

  • The

application package must include all information collected by the Exchange

    Agency, such as:

    • Personal letter

    • Demographic information

    • Written evidence of English proficiency

    • Signed verification of student's age

    • Request for a full-year placement

    • Original transcript of student's high school grades, with English translation

    • Medical history, including proof of immunization as required by the school district.

School policies regarding exchange students:

  • Each exchange student will be placed in the 11th grade unless he or she

requests placement in the 10th grade. We do not place exchange students in

the 12th grade, and exchange students do not participate in "senior only"

activities such as early release or graduation.

  • Exchange students will receive grades and a transcript, but they will not be

    included in class rank.

  • Exchange students must not have graduated from a high school in their

    home country.

  • Exchange students are eligible to participate in athletics if they meet the SC

High School League requirements: https://schsl.org/archives/1654. Most

    teams require tryouts.

  • Exchange students and host families must know and follow all school

    policies and rules.

  • All students are issued an iPad upon enrollment. Exchange students will

return the iPad at the end of the school year.

Number of exchange students:

● We enroll a maximum of four students per year. Each student will commit to a full school year (no semester placements).

Timeline:

● CHS will receive the applications from April 10th to May 15th of the preceding school year. Placements will be approved, and coordinators will be notified as soon as possible for the following school year.

● The Clover High School selection process includes: The diversity of countries represented, the location of the local exchange company coordinators, the applicant's English proficiency score, and their academic record.

Please email complete applications to:

  • Dr. Jennifer Forrest: jennifer.forrest@clover.k12.sc.us
