On Tuesday, September 24th, Ms. Manecia McNeill, Sergeant Phillip Hawkins, and Ms. Linda Dunlap took seven BEA students to the Youth Against Bullying Summit in Columbia. Hundreds of students, educators, and officers from across South Carolina met to discuss the importance of fighting bullying. York County was the largest represented county with ninety students and Blue Eagle Academy was the only Clover school to take delegates. Our students attended workshops on how students can support anti-bullying activities on school campuses and entered a poster contest to support no bullying zones in schools. Students also heard from speakers such as Chief Ruben Santiago, Superintendent of Education Mick Zais, and U.S. Attorney Bill Nettles who addressed the summit to raise awareness for anti-bullying student-led actions.
