THE MADNESS & BRILLIANCE OF DUO BALDO

Duo Baldo: Aldo Gentileschi, pianist and Brad Reep, violinist

Thursday, November 14 7:00pm Tickets: $20.00

Virtuosic Performers. Slapstick humor. Physical comedy. Classical music satire.

Renowned violinist Brad Repp and pianist/actor Aldo Gentileschi are the madness and brilliance behind Duo Baldo. Their critically acclaimed concerts combine virtuosic performances, theatrical humor, and pop culture.

In 2002, Brad, an American violinist studying in Lucca, and Aldo, a pianist and aspiring actor, met casually in a quaint coffee shop and began experimenting with new ideas that would eventually, and unknowingly, blossom into a show that captivates and surprises.

Since their 2004 debut with Andrea Bocelli, the duo has delighted audience members around the world. Their canny combination of great musical skill, terrific comic timing, and ability to make us love classical music through laughter at the idiosyncrasies of performers and composers puts them in the league with greats Victor Borge, Anna Russell, and PDQ Bach.

Brad Repp performs on a 1736 Testore violin. Aldo Gentileschi performs on whatever piano he can find.

Join us Thursday, November 14, at 7:00pm for an evening of virtuosic performances, slapstick humor, physical comedy and Classical music satire!

Individual tickets are $20.00 and will be available at the door the evening of the concert. Call the auditorium at 803-222-8018 for more details!

Celebrating 30 Years Of Memories and Milestones

Clover School District Auditorium first opened the doors to the public on November 10, 1994.  The very first event was A Salute to the Arts and featured performances by both Clover High and Junior High School Band and Chorus students.  A visual art exhibit was on display in the lobby greeting guests as they entered.

Grand Ole Opry comedian Jerry Clower was the first professional artist to appear on stage.  Since then the stage has welcomed Grammy Award winners George Winston, Kathy Mattea, Alison Brown, Mark O’Connor, The Kingston Trio, Jimmy Webb, and David Holt.

Concerts by The National Symphony Orchestra, The President’s Own Marine Band along with other military service bands and ensembles have graced the stage.

Celebrities like Queen Latifah, John Davidson, Jerry Clower, and Jerry Reed have also appeared here.   Dabo Swinney, Perry Tuttle, and Frank Reich are just a few of the sports personalities that have been on stage.

Comedies and dramas from the legendary Barter Theatre and Springer Opera House have been performed here.

And finally, there have been literally hundreds of local, state, regional, national and international artists performing for audiences of all ages.

But, the auditorium is just not a performance place.  It is also a learning place.  It is a laboratory for the science of acoustics, light, optics, and mechanics.  It is a classroom for public speaking, lectures, and debates.  It is a workshop for stage craft, acting, dancing, singing, playing an instrument, and performing.  It is a training facility for future stage hands, audio, lighting, and video operators designers, engineers, and technicians.  It is a learning office for facility management, box office sales, and event planning.

It is an extraordinary place where ordinary people join together to share in a common experience that hopefully makes ourselves and our world all the better.

Each year, the auditorium calendar fills with school events.  Then the doors open outward to community users.  Over a million people each year pass through these doors to see their child in a play, perform a solo in a concert, dance with their classmates, enjoy works of art, or receive an award or scholarship.  Others may take in a touring performance or attend a company meeting.

All have been given the opportunity to laugh, cry, dance, sing, and show their pride in family, friends, faith, and community because of the vision educational and community leaders had nearly twelve years prior to the first brick being placed!

CSDA proudly continues its mission to educate, enlighten, enrich, and entertain.  We are grateful to have been trusted with this in the past, and we are honored to continue it into the future.

Quotes From Opening Day

Here's what they were saying when the auditorium opened its doors.

“I kind of have to catch my breath every time I walk out here,” Glass said looking out at the 1500 empty blue seats stretched out before her.

There are 937 seats on the orchestra and mezzanine, but the word around the district is “there are no bad seats in the house,” Glass said.

“The students think it is wonderful, they are just in awe over the beauty of the auditorium and its amenities.  Plus, the potential this givesus for the arts students are tremendous-something we have not had before.”

-Teresa Glass, Former Clover School District Public Information Officer -Reporter Sharyn Lucas: The Herald

“We feel like we’ve wakened in a fairy land,” Campbell says.  “It’s close to awesome for the kids and I still get that feeling when I walk in.”

-Rebecca Campbell, Former Clover Junior High School Drama Instructor

This facility is state of the art.  I have not seen a facility like this in the state,” says choral director Jay Forrest.  “It’s got fabulous acoustics, a first-rate sound system, and a great Steinway.”

-Jay Forrest, Clover High School Choral Director  -Reporter Pat FitzGerald: The Herald

“We just want to give ourmusic  parents and the public an opportunity to hear our students perform in this magnificent new facility.”

“We are obviously very excited.  When I think back over the last 19 years and remember all the plays and concerts that were held in the cafeteria or gymnasium, it is easy to see how much this day means to those of us who have taught fine arts in the district.  We are very grateful to the school board and the community for supporting this project.

-Ron Wright, Former Clover Junior High Principal & Chairman of the auditorium committee -Mike Faulkenberry, The Clover Herald

“ We are really excited about moving into the new auditorium.  We’ve waited anxiously for this for years.  We are very, very fortunate to have such a fine oerformance and rehearsal facility in our school district.  I feel it will serve the needs of our community for years to come.”

-David Yandle, Clover High School Band   -Mike Faulkenberry, Editor-The Clover Herald

NEW TRAFFIC PATTERNS AND PARKING ACCESS ON CAMPUS

TRAFFIC ALERT! NEW TRAFFIC PATTERNS AND PARKING AREA ACCESS ON CAMPUS

In an effort to alleviate congestion during school hours and to prepare for the 2026 conversion of the NGC to Roosevelt Middle School, CHS and NGC now have their own separate entrances and car rider lines.

Local patrons may wish to take a Sunday drive to see the changes!

CHS/CSDA Entry: The main entrance has been relocated to the former CHS Gym entrance. The slight left turn leading to the front of CSDA and the parking area remains.

An entrance has been added to the lower end of the parking area, enabling patrons to park, or to circle back around for dropping off and picking up passengers before exiting campus.

NGC Parking: Changes to traffic and parking at the ninth grade campus include new parking areas. A separate new entry is located between the NGC building and the game field.

The travel lane between CHS and NGC has been deleted and the two campuses are no longer connected. Patrons that prefer to park at the NGC will now have to use the new entry.
